چکیده

Network on Chip (NoC) is proposed as a promising intra-chip communication infrastructure. A simple and efficient routing scheme is important for large scale NoC to provide the required communication performance to applications with low area and power overheads. Although mesh is preferred for NoC, virtualization may lead to irregular topologies. In this paper, we propose a Convex-Based DOR (CBDOR) routing scheme for the convex topologies. We demonstrate the connectedness and deadlock-freedom of CBDOR. This routing mechanism relies only on two bits per switch. Simulation results show that the area overhead of CBDOR switch is just 2.2% higher than that of traditional DOR switch, with the added complexity negligible. Therefore, the simplicity in the routing mechanism and switch architecture makes CBDOR more practical and scalable when compared to LBDR and FDOR.

Non-Blocking Routers Design Based on West First Routing Algorithm & MZI Switches for Photonic NoC

For the first time, the 4- and 5-port optical routers are designed by using the West First routing algorithm for use in optical network on chip. The use of the WF algorithm has made the designed routers to provide non-blocking routing in photonic network on chip. These routers not only are based on high speed Mach-Zehnder switches(Which have a higher bandwidth and more thermal tolerance than mi...

Reliability and Performance Evaluation of Fault-aware Routing Methods for Network-on-Chip Architectures (RESEARCH NOTE)

Nowadays, faults and failures are increasing especially in complex systems such as Network-on-Chip (NoC) based Systems-on-a-Chip due to the increasing susceptibility and decreasing feature sizes. On the other hand, fault-tolerant routing algorithms have an evident effect on tolerating permanent faults and improving the reliability of a Network-on-Chip based system. This paper presents reliabili...

PREPRINT FREACSIM - A Framework for Creating and Simulating Real-Time Capable Network on Chip Systems and Applications

The trend towards Network on Chip (NoC) architectures in the embedded domain brings new challenges for hardware as well as software developers. Real-time properties, locality issues and the modelling of messaging protocols are just some examples, where the complexity of NoCs is several orders of magnitude higher than in conventional bus based multi-core systems. Thus, the simulation and modelin...
